Fight With Us- Join the Fight Against Breast Cancer this Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was founded in 1985 as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and Imperial Chemical Industries — the latter of which is a pharmaceutical company that is now part of AstraZeneca and produces several anti-breast cancer drugs. Since then, millions of Americans have shown their support not only by wearing pink but by competing in Charity 5ks, participating in various walks For the Cure, and donating to the host of non-profits that have banded together to rid the world of this disease, the second most common form of cancer found in women.

This year, you can contribute too by showing our $10 coupon on the day of your service: for every job we perform where the homeowner shows us that coupon, we take $10 from our service fee and donate it directly to the Fight Against Breast Cancer.

Why Do We Contribute?

As one of the most widespread and destructive diseases in America, breast cancer has indeed effected all of us. This past year, owner of Lake Cook Plumbing Steve Shapiro lost his mother to breast cancer, and has since then resolutely decided to be a part of this fight. Lake Cook Plumbing isn’t just a service provider: it’s a part of the Lake Cook Community, and as such we want to be the very best member of that community that we could ever be.

Why Should You Contribute?

Approximately 1 in 8 women will contract breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. Nearly 3 million women who have either recovered or are still recovering from breast cancer live in America right now, and every year that number substantially grows. The fight against cancer is a race against time. Every donation counts, as does every chance to promote awareness! Catching cancer in its earlier stages can more than triple your chances of a successful recovery. Middle aged women have the highest risk of contracting breast cancer, but they also have the cases that are generally the most treatable. This is a long fight against a tough foe, but it’s a fight that can be won.

So have the women in your family take time out of this month to schedule check-ups, and when you call Lake Cook for plumbing, make sure you remember your $10 donation coupon. The donation will be in your name, and you’ll officially be a part of the fight when you order service from Lake Cook today!
